Jansen Dustin
Jansen has been repairing woodwind instruments professionally since 2009 after receiving his certificate in Band Instrument Repair Technology from Renton Technical College. He earned a B.A. in Music from Central Washington University where he focused on saxophone and jazz studies, while also playing bass clarinet and contra bass clarinet in wind ensemble. Jansen has been fortunate enough to have performed in Puerto Rico, Paris, Switzerland at the Montreux Jazz Festival, and the North Sea Jazz Festival in the Netherlands. He continues to perform in local bands on tenor saxophone.
After finishing the repair program at RTC, Jansen cut his teeth for five years at Kennelly Keys Music. For the next ten years he served as saxophone specialist at Seattle Sound Repair, where he also spent thousands of hours devoted to clarinets and bass clarinets. Now he has built a repair shop at his house in Edmonds, WA so that he can spend more time at home with his family.
A Pacific Northwest native, Jansen is a graduate of Shorecrest HS where he was a member of the WMEA All State Jazz Band. His family has lived in the Seattle area for over a century, his kids being sixth generation Washingtonians. Through all of the change in this area he is proud to still be here and a part of this music community.
